Spring Fling

Had our first show today with the tent and new banner. It was absolutely gorgeous out and the kids had a fabulous time at the carnival. It was a little breezy and the bows kept flying off the hooks, so next time we'll definitely have to use the side panels. The best compliment of the day was someone asking me if I had my own store:)

Some Valentine Fun

I finished the girls' Valentine's Day outfits in the nick of time for their much anticipated party. I was happy that they each got an individual look instead of my usual over-the-top matchiness which has been causing people to ask me if we have triplets instead of twins...yikes!

Maddy's outfit was made with some fabulous Alexander Henry fabric. The colors are so rich and the fabric lends itself so well to this pattern...the Gracie pattern from Sandi Henderson's Portabello Pixie line. The pants are her single ruffle pants pattern. I LOVE this pattern and can't wait to make another one. They definitely run true to size though. She was on the borderline between a 3 and 4, so I went with the 3 since they are small for their age and usually swim in their clothes, but she definitely could have used a 4. Thank goodness it's 65 out because we're not squeezing a tshirt on under that top. Oh, and Maddy announced this morning, "Look, I'm a boutique!"

For Gabby I made the ruffle and ruche skirt from YouCanMakeThis. So easy with my new serger...love that rolled hem...now I just need a ruffle foot:)

Ana got the big girl look with a monogram applique tshirt. Applique pattern is from Embroidery Boutique. I love this alphabet because it really shows off the applique fabric.

I added this monogrammed spring daisy ribbon headband to the store today. I just love the hot pink/celadon color combo. Ana was sweet enough to model for me today. Maddy has some sort of cold virus so she is not looking too pretty right now...poor thing:( And Gabby patiently waits for me to make something in purple for her...

She's Got the Look!

This is Maddy's new modeling pose, and boy does she have it down:) As soon as she sees me getting the camera ready, she strikes her pose...she is too funny!! These are the monogrammed single initial tshirts I made last night...the tshirt on the left is using a print from Tanya Whelan's Darla line (love those colors) and the middle is a print from Sandi Henderson's Farmer's Market line. The one on the right is a three letter monogram in Sydney font with an attached ribbon and bow.

Ana (almost 7) took this picture for me this morning. It turned out better than the one I took, so she's officially my assistant now:) I made these headbands last night and am planning on making some three letter monogrammed ones tonight with a different font. Ana picked the celadon/hot pink one to wear today. It looks really cute on her and is more of a "big girl" style.

My monogramming obsession continues and I finished Gabby's Valentine's Day outfit. She loves it so much and wants to wear it now (which says a lot because it is not her favorite color of purple). This is the same skirt I made her for Christmas, except this time I was able to sew beautiful rolled hem edges with my new serger...thank you Santa:)

Button Heaven!

I am in love with covered buttons, always have been. I remember discovering them as a teenager and adding them to everything I sewed. But now the fabric color choices are so yummy and combined with my embroidery machine...watch out! My husband says that I am monogramming everything I can get my hands on and he's right!

When I started making the monogrammed bows, little Maddy would pick which ever one she liked to wear regardless of the letter on it. If it had an "A" on it, she would say, "That's okay. I'll wear it for Ana." But now she goes to my workroom and hunts around until she finds one with an M on it and brings it to me to put in her hair. She even picks out the matching headband to go with it. She is definitely our little fashionista:)

I made these monogrammed hair bows today and am really loving them!

This is a 3-1/2" bow made with 7/8" ribbon.

This is a 4" bow made with 1-1/2" ribbon.

I clipped them on the twins' woven headbands for our visit to Santa.
